Dr. Visit

Miller was still not a big drinker or eater today. After he got up this morning, I noticed his rash had spread to his upper torso. It didn't look too bad so we sent him to school. His teacher said she wouldn't worry about it but if we wanted to take him to the Dr. we should. I called the nurse and she told me it didn't sound bad, just watch it. So at noon, Ryan went down to look at him and it had spread. He made an appt and this afternoon we headed to the pediatrician. The Dr. looked at him and said "Looks like an allergy or virus. Keep him hydrated and if he spikes a fever, watch him." We went through what might have changed to cause it and nothing was introduced or new to the routine so he said it's probably viral, not contagious. As for the cold, I guess when you are a baby and play in a petri dish, it takes a while longer to get over it. It's not in his lungs and overall he still has gained an ounce without the extra food or drinks.

I am relieved he's ok but it would have been nice to have a diagnosis. I have fretted all day and I think I took it out on co-workers. I was so worried about him but my head kept saying there's nothing you can do. I am revoking my no drinking Monday through Friday rule and going to have a bottle of wine tonight. Forget the diet, Mommy needs to destress while she works until midnight again.

Poor Baby (and Mom and Dad)

We knew Miller would be a walking petri dish once we sent him to DC. Overall, he's had several colds, pink eye twice, and several "owies." I would consider this pretty good after seeing the drooling monsters in action.

Add this one to the latest Miller ailments. Teething+Teething Rash+Dehydration=Unhappy Baby. The poor little guy's mouth is erupting with white islands amongst his tender gums. He's not into anything that normal babies are supposed to be into when they teeth. He hates cold things (teething rings, wash cloths, food, etc.). He isn't into chewing on things either. The last few days are the tail end of his cold but now he doesn't want to drink or eat very much. We have been monitoring him closely and broke out the syringe to get some liquid in him. He's still having wet diapers, has tears when he cries, and a moist mouth so I don't think he needs to go to the doctor yet. He has a rash all over his face.

Majority of the time he's been happy but right now, the little guy is screaming because he doesn't want to go to sleep. He doesn't have a fever, we went for a nice long walk, he's sucking his thumb but no love on sleeping. I can't take any more screaming. I am going to rescue him. Wish me luck that he goes down soon. Ryan is at work and I have a lot to do tonight still.

4AM Wake-up Call

Miller woke up at 4 something this morning. We tried to ignore him thinking he would fall back asleep. No such luck. Ryan got up with him but I never really went back to sleep. He was a fussy mussy and nothing would settle him down. I think more teeth are coming in. Plus the poor guy has had a cold all week and no one likes having snot nose for a week.

I sure could use a nap. I was going to stop drinking soda this week and get back on a healthy eating kick but today may call for some caffeine in a couple hours. I am dragging already. It will be early bedtime for the Froyd's tonight.

Working in the Porch

Miller got all his napping in yesterday so today he is wild and fighting the sleep monster. We decided to put him in his pack and play out in the porch. He is standing and playing with toys but contained. This is the perfect opportunity for me to get a little work done. In the house, I can't get a sentence read or typed before he's off into something he shouldn't be.

Ryan completed lawn chores yesterday so it is nice to sit outside and look at the well groomed grass. Yes, as weird as it may sound, a freshly mowed lawn and a freshly vacuumed floor excite me. Now, I need to stop blogging and get some of this stuff called "work" done.

Nappy Napperton

This week was a long one including a night of work until 12:30am. With that much work, this weekend will be full of chores and Miller time. We started off this morning with a play hour and then a beautiful nap. He normally doesn't nap until noon time at DC but on the weekends he likes to take a little siesta after his morning play session. He has been practicing standing on his own (sans furniture) and even a little marching walk with our coaxing.

It's hard to believe it's only 9:30am and we have had a bottle, breakfast, play time, a nap, and a snack already! No wonder why I am exhausted after the weekend!

Miller's First Pool Day

Miller couldn't wait to try out his new swimwear and pool gear. Here are the pictures to explain his day over at his girlfriend's house. BTW, it was a little chilly at first so he was a trooper. He loved it!

Miller's Truck

Ryan bought Miller a dump truck a few weeks ago. The intent was to have him push and then stand/walk behind it. Miller wasn't into walking at the time so he liked to just push and pull it. After we got back from my parent's for Easter, I put him on it and wa-la! The kid can now touch the floor with his feet and make it move. He also walks behind it with some major encouragement. Here he is, showing off his new truck. It's not the Big Red Truck but the Yellow Dump Truck. PS-it honks, dumps it load, and has an engine start up noise. Pretty darn cool. I should have been a boy growing up. They have cool toys!

Home

It was snowing in Denver when I left. I was lucky my flight was not cancelled like some of my Chicago peers. It was 45 minutes late leaving the gate and I had to wait over a half hour for my luggage tonight. I am glad to be home.

Miller was up and outside waiting for me when I got home. He definitely has a fever but he was happy to see his mommy. I changed his diaper, Ryan gave him another shot of tylenol, and back to sleep he went. Hopefully it's just do to his shot this week and he feels better tomorrow.

Ryan let him get bruised and battered while I was gone. Rug burns on his knees, skinned knuckles, a fever...Glad they happened on his watch, not mine!

Flight Delays

Yesterday I high tailed it to the airport to stand in an absurbly long line to check my luggage. Security wasn't bad but then I found out my flight was delayed 2 hours. So, my boss and a coworker and I decided what better way to start a work adventure than by hitting the bar for a few rounds of drinks.

After the 3 rounds, we headed to our gate and stood in line. There was some confusion, and I tried to board a plane to Tampa, not Denver. Ooops! I wasn't the only one by the way. They moved a gate on us and one guy was saying B2 and the other B4. Anyhow...after that plane loaded, a storm hit and because of lightening we couldn't board (no fueling or luggage loading during storms). We decided after sitting around for another 20 minutes, let's get another drink.

Finally we boarded our plane and than sat on the runway while they wait to fuel us. At 5pm (original departure time was 1:20pm) we were off. The flight in general was uneventful except for the guy ahead of me who decided reclining was a great thing to do so I had to sit with my laptop practically half closed. It was like those typing exercises where you cover your hands with paper...

Once we landed, my plans to meet friends were shot so I cabbed it to the hotel and then met other people for dinner. It was a great upscale mexican restaurant. I had some salmon enchiladas with goat cheese, capers, quail eggs...it was terrific but very odd. I was a good girl and came back to the hotel at 10:30pm (I hate late dinners) and read a chapter in my book then went to sleep. I slept like a baby and am ready to start another absurbly long day.

I have to reconnect with friends tonight and then another friend is in town so I have to figure that out too. Talk about jam packed.

Oh, as for the clothes and packing...my suitcase sat in the downpour in Ft. Lauderdale and a good portion of my stuff was wet when I got to the hotel. Then I had a bad iron that leaked water over everything I tried to iron. I spent 10 minutes with the blow dryer on my clothes. Nothing's ever easy when you are a Froyd.

Over Packed

I normally over pack an extra outfit or two when traveling "just in case" something happens and I didn't plan accordingly. Now, this does not mean I over due it all the time because I have been to Chicago for work for a 2-3 day trip and been able to smash it all in a backpack.

Tonight, I packed for my trip to Denver (for work). I seriously had a packing dilema. I needed semi-cool weather clothes (it's supposed to be between 40-60 degrees and rain) and I needed work and non-work clothes. Since it's a conference, that requires suits and honestly, I am not sure one will fit. The other two are nice jackets but always a stretch to match pants since I didn't buy the matching pants at the time of the jacket purchase. I will never do that one again.

Also, I try to match all outfits when I travel so I can get by with one pair of shoes. The pair I normally wear have not been friendly lately since I have toes that keep going numb. I decided this called for an alternative pair of shoes but one isn't high enough to wear with some pants and the other is open toed (which in FL is no biggy but in CO before warm weather???).

I am sure every man is shaking their head reading this post but my suitcase is jam packed and I seriously am wondering if I can make 3 outfits out of it. Pray for a happy day when I get dressed and that my suitcase makes the trip with me. If I have to go and purchase clothes I am screwed with this fashion plague that has been hanging its head above me.

I still have toiletries to go...what a night.

Attention Deficit What?

I used to think I was a very focused, linear person. Then work turned me into a scatter brain. I can flip topics like card dealer in Vegas. Ok, that was lame. Anyhow...my day is full of constant interuptions. So much that I never can start a task and complete it in one sitting.

Today was not the case. I had a ton of meetings cancelled and uninterrupted, well, less interrupted time to work. I didn't know what to do. It was a foreign concept to work for 30 minutes on one item without 15 windows open, email coming in, and IM blinking in my face. There were limited visits to my office and my phone only rang 3 times today. The scarry part for me is I didn't know what to do! I am not used to having real work time.

I did start alot of items and I checked a couple off my list but overall, I realized I am out of practice in the focus department. Can you develop A.D.D. as an adult?

Chicken Pot Pie

Today was a smorgusboard (no idea how to spell that) of events. Miller went to the park for the first time. Swings he loves but slide...not so sure about. It was more fun to watch the other kids.

After some time at the park, I swear it was 90+ degrees out, how do those kids run around without heat stroke, we headed home. I swapped cars and took off to the store to buy Miller some new clothes. He's outgrown everything and has no shorts or t-shirts that fit.
After 12 new outfits were purchased...seriously, if I could get 12 new outfits for under $130 I woudl be ecstatic, I took a short trip to Target. I purchased a few plastic easter eggs for Miller to play with this coming weekend and a few household items. Then I headed home to work for a few hours. I took my email inbox down from 279 emails to 33. Granted, I didn't do all the follow up items but I got the little things out of the way. I even put together a new list of things to do so I don't forget so much this week.
After that, Ryan made a fantastic chicken pot pie. It was huge so we invited some friends over to sample the goods. Sorry Jerry, your are fantastic and since this was a first time, I don't think Ryan wanted to even compare his to yours. After eating his, I think you have some competition.
While we waited for our friends, I decided to take a picture of my new lilies. They look pretty good.
All in all, it was a pretty darn good weekend.

5 AM Wake Up Call

Miller was tuckered out after helping Ryan put the new cover on the bed of the truck. I walked in, held him for less than 2 minutes, literally, and he was out like a light. This morning, he woke up at 5am hungry. I fed him a bottle and sent him back to bed. Then he wore up around his normal time (6am) and we had the rest of his breakfast. Then we took a nap on the couch. He was such a good napper today!

I found some chopped tomatoes, green pepper, ham, cheese, and some eggs so I made an omelet this morning. I am not an egg fan but it sounded delicious. I made it up and gave some to Miller. He cleaned his plate. I can't believe he even ate the green peppers! (This was his morning snack.) This kid's a EATER!

Time to do a couple chores but overall I am taking it easy today. I am going to watch some tv, read a few magazines that are piling up, and maybe get a haircut. That's stretching it though.

Miller's on the loose. Gotta go catch him.

I Am Spent!

I have been complaining all week how tired I have been and how much I have wanted to call in sick but I know that means more work in the long run. I suck it up everyday and go to work. Today, I worked 7:30-6:45, got home, finished Miller's bath time, put him to bed, wolfed down a good supper, cleaned up the dishes, and am about to hop back on a demo/call with our international clients in 15 minutes. I am spent!

When is a girl supposed to catch up on tv, reading, exercise (Lord knows that's been months waiting to happen), and in general, life outside of work? I thought things were getting better last week and then BAM! 180 back to the crazy way of doing things. Enough yapping, time to log in and set up my demo stuff. I hope I stay awake and pay attention...no one to fall back on tonight.
