New House and FAST Internet

Warning: scattered post

We moved to the new house Saturday with help from friends and family (muscle and babysitters). We have been working hard to get things in order but have pretty much run out of steam. We will tackle some more this weekend. This is the first time I have sat down to test out the new wireless in the house. My goodness, what speed! Now I know what I have been missing and wouldn't go back ever again! We weren't on dial up but in comparison, I think we might have been. LOL!

We do not have our computer really set up so that means we haven't uncovered the camera cord to load pictures. So, you will just have to wait a little longer for the pics.

Miller did ok with the move but was definitely bothered by it. He didn't like the house being a mess and things not quite in order. In fact, I was asked why he didn't have his laundry basket in his room and his clothes were on the floor. He didn't like that extra mess in his room. Hmm...maybe he needs some chores.

New bed frame, bed, and chairs arrived this week. Oh so heavenly. I don't know how we lived with a queen bed for two adults, one 50lb dog, and a 12lb cat. Having a king is heavenly.

Floors are done (tile and carpet). Laundry room will be completed this weekend with working new appliances (yay!). The entry, Miller's room, living, and dining rooms all are painted. I hope to tackle our bedroom this weekend. After that, the two guest rooms can wait.

I have a ton of purchases to make with some gift cards for drawer organizers and weird stuff like that. I can't wait to get my shopping groove on. Things are slowly coming together.

We officially close on the old house tomorrow night. There will be a sigh of relief and a glass or two of wine had in celebration of another "milestone" in life. No more moves for a while now. One every 8 years is soon enough.

Ying and Yang

The Ying and Yang of life were present over the past couple days. Our closing went well on Friday and afterwards, Ryan and I picked out the new tile and carpet. The salesman was able to come over and measure right away. We also were told they would be able to install this week before we move (the tile now and the carpet after we finish moving stuff in the house). It was more than what we budgeted but at least it will all be done and we won't have to worry about any stragler rooms in the future.

Saturday Ryan and my dad were busy beavers and got some work done on the AC and the trees trimmed (and some landscaping). The diningroom also was primed. My mom and I were able to get some shopping done with Miller. We successfully purchased a new bedroom set (bedspread, sheets, pillows, etc. for my non-existant king bed). We found new bathroom towels and accessories too. Miller was an excellent trooper yesterday and went nap free. We even got some pool time in. Oh, and I beat everyone at Rummy 500.

Today I awakened with a small hangover and was a little slow to get moving. Miller was a BEAST. The day without a nap really took its toll on him and he was crabby, naughty, and plain ol' fiesty. He refused a nap for me today too. Ryan finally got him to fall asleep late this afternoon. The boys arrived at the house to find a leak from the refrigerator (Ryan is dumed when it comes to water lines to fridges). The good news is they found the leak, the cupboards were raised up and not ruined. The walls that they ripped up they found some mold and damage so they were able to fix that before the new tile gets down and before the new washer and dryer arrived. So even in the bad news, there was good behind it.

I went back this afternoon and did some heavy cleaning in the bathrooms. Ryan is putting up the final coat of paint in the dining room and hoping to prime the livingroom and entry tonight. I am going to get some work done, finish laundry and decide whether to crash or be productive. I am thinking crashing sounds best.

Mother's Day

Miller greeted me with a card decorated in NASCAR stickers this morning. Then we lotioned up and headed to the beach. The water was very calm and he walked out to his shoulders. He required a hand from Ryan or me 95% of the time but had a blast. We saw little fish and Pelican Pete made a few trips by us. He played in the sand long enough to take a couple pictures. We swam, had a snack, swam some more and then we were off to home.

PS-the water startled us both and where does his hand go...

Mother's Day Fashion Show

Today was the Mother's Day Fashion Show at DC. Miller's class had "pj's" as a theme. Miller wanted to wear his robot pajamas. It was a cute event and obviously the first of many I foresee in my future as a mother.

The babies came out in the buggy sporting their beach attire. Norah rocked the house in her swimsuit and hat.

Then Miller's class. They were all a little shocked to see so many parents. They had warned us the little ones would want to come sit with us. Not my kid. He was all about staying with his teacher and could care less about his mommy. How typical. When I finally did get him to come to me, I didn't make for a good lap or place to stand with a good view. He was not having any of the show.

Afterwards, Jess snapped this picture of us (I couldn't get any of the actual fashion show). Note to self, always pick an aisle, don't feel bad about getting right up in there for a good shot, and no one sits when it comes time to get a picture of their own kid. PS-he's holding Oso, his favorite bear at school.
