God bless the auto-save

I had all but typed my last sentence of my last post and it was substantially long, when the power went out. I was ticked but logged back in and there it was...my post saved as a draft! Go Blogger, finally a good feature!

Weird Dream

I normally don't remember any of my dreams or that I even had one during my sleep but this morning...craziness. Feel free to interpret this how you want.

At my parents old house in Bemidji (Irvingboro). We have to go to church. Of course, I am not looking forward to it. On the way to church we start heading to Walmart. Why I ask? Supposedly a new government rule states that churches shall not have secured seating on the same floor as the altar...translate that into no pews in churches. Ok...but why are we going to Walmart? Walmart has graciously offered up part of their store to use as a church. We walk in and there are curtains, teleprompters, assigned seating, weird crazy stuff. Ryan disappears...where did he go. I see him walking behind a curtain naked. He pooped himself and was buying new clothes to wear to church. Ok, it gets weirder.

Now we are sitting in lawn chairs looking out at a lake scene. Some fellow church goers are wearing wetsuits floating in the lake. A little toddler goes under and doesn't come up. My dad jumps in and rescues him with CPR. I have just about enough of this nonsensical "church" and say I am outta here. As I pick up my lawn chair, there are coupons for half off food at the "mega cafe." I remember throughout the adventure I have some weird conversations with people.

Now, I haven't been forced to attend church in ages. I am not quite sure where all of this came from but if a law is passed where seats need to be temporary in churches-don't go to church at Walmart!

And it goes a little something like this...

Meow, MRWEOW, HISSSSSS, thwat, thwat, click click click click, sliding sound on wood floor and then it starts over again.

Yes, that's the sound of Jazzy Kat terrorizing Scooter Dog. Poor Jazzy has been without her beloved sister Annie Dog for almost 2 weeks. She turned into a watch cat and quite the lover while Annie was gone. Now that Scoots is here...she is back in top form as the bitchy cat of the house. It is so funny because she looks like her 12lbs of cattiness could eat Scooter's 30lbs of doscileness. They just keep stalking each other.

We leave in a couple hours to go pick up Annie. I miss her quite a bit so I hope she isn't too wild when she gets home to this animal farm.

Oh, and Scooter sleeps under the blankets but at our house, he sleeps like a human. Body under the covers, head on my pillow. Good think he is only a little tyke. If Annie did that I wouldn't have ANY room in the bed.

Unmotivated

The vacation sure put a wrinkle in the diet and exercise routine. I have not wanted to get back on the horse (technically my bike) since we got home. I have been eating better during the day but we have eaten out a couple times since we got home (pizza and nachos). I ate in moderation but feel guilty. Maybe it is the drinks each night. There haven't been lots of them, just a few nights in a row.

Anyhow, I had the best intentions to get up and bike today but I didn't. I didn't want to drink tonight but I am skipping bowling for a going away party at work. Guess this week is a wash. Maybe Saturday will be the beginning of being motivated again.

At work, I have been producing like a mad woman but my list keeps getting longer instead of shorter. The good news is I harrassed HR to get me more applicants so I can hire my second person. Oh, I hope it happens soon. I really need the help.

Little bit o' braggin'

I made the Dean's list as an instructor! That's right. Excellent student reviews and department chair review. Sweet! I was impressed when I looked at the list of recipients from our school and saw that there weren't too many of us in comparison to how many teachers teach.

That put a little feather in my cap after a hellacious day at work playing catch up. So, that is my little horn tooting for now.

Colorado Vacation

Our trip to Colorado was fun. The whole Froyd Family was there so it was nice to see everyone in one shot. Summary of events:

1) Grooms Dinner-fun, at an old Brew Pub downtown Colorado Springs (no idea what the name was though)
2) Friday tourist day-Ryan and I went to the Cave of the Winds, Manitou Springs, and 7 Falls. We met the family for lunch and went to 7 Falls together. I climbed those mother hating stairs and was proud of myself for doing it. I had my doubts after the first 100+ steps on the side of a mountain. I wouldn't say I am afraid of heights but open stairwells with people going down as you are going up...not really enjoyable. The altitude didn't kick my butt as much as I thought it would. We had dinner with the family, played a little Wii and Foosball (I kicked butt!) and then met the cousins at the bar for some drinks. Good times.
3) Saturday-I told Ryan the one and only thing I would make him do on this trip was visit the US. Figure Skating Museum. We were only there an hour (I could have stayed much longer but didn't want to ruin Ryan's whole day). After 20 years of skating, I got a little teary eyed a couple times and was quite overcome by emotions. I bought a new Xmas ornament and a postcard I framed. Not the high quality souveneir but it will do.
4) Saturday afternoon/evening = wedding. Beautiful scenery + wonderful food and drink = great time. I danced my feet off into blistery sore stubs. That should sum that one up for you.
5) Sunday we said our goodbyes and headed to Denver. We met Amy and LBK. Took Amy to lunch and I said goodbye without crying. I am going to miss the Mannisto's but am so happy for them. They are going to love it out there.

Final comment is 97+ degrees when we left and not even humid. I loved it! We spent so much time outside. I wish we could get weather like that in Florida.

So, we are home. I dropped my car off to get it fixed (again), got groceries, unpacked, and Ryan mowed the lawn. Laundry has started and we are goign to bed early.

4 statements

1) God dang it was hot out there biking this morning.
2) I lost a game or two at Wii bowling last night :(
3) My baby went to stay at Grandma and Grandpa's this morning and gave me the sad look before she left. It made me sad.
4) In less than 9 hours, I am on vacation.

Yep, that sums up my evening and morning so far. Wide range of emotions. Ryan better look out-I am like a roller coaster today. Not to mention, another round of saying goodbye to a friend that is leaving makes me bitter sweet. I am happy for her and her family but very sad she is leaving.

Flashback to the weekend

Warning-for those that don't want to hear about tampons, read no further. For those that want a little chuckle to kick start their day, read on.

So, I forgot to post this yesterday. Here's the background story. For 15 years or so I have used a particular brand of feminine product that none of my friends use. After many years of being the nice friend and lady at work for those in need of a personal product (and being turned down many times) I ran into a person that actually uses the same brand as me! I met her at happy hour and realized we are very similar. At one moment, the tampon topic came up. She said I was the only other person she knew that used the same kind. Instant bonding. Keep that in mind for future stories, none tonight.

Flash forward from Friday night at the bar to Sunday at Target. I decided to stock up and was about to put a box in the cart (Ryan was pushing and coming from the video section) when the box I was carrying fell out ALL over the floor. Even I was too devestated to scurry on my hands and knees and pick them all up. I know, silly, unused = no shame. I had the giggles for several hours afterwards. Ryan darted down another aisle faster than I could say holy shit. I panicked, looked around, asked him if I should pick them up, and then turned away and ran down another aisle. The funniest part was me trying to avoid the spillage while some poor stock boy had to pick them all up and other people muttered about it.

Maybe some of you are now mortified but I have the giggles again. Wait, maybe that is because I kicked Ryan's butt at Wii bowling yet again-3 games in a row!

Mondays

I can somehow manage to get up on Monday's and bike but most other days it is so much harder. Do you think it could be the excessive napping and relaxing I have been doing on Sundays that now allows me to fully recharge before getting up to bike?

We had our official weigh-in this morning. I have been begging Ryan to change the date to a weekday that is further from the weekend. We usually eat, drink, and skip exercise on the weekends which in my mind, makes the loss of weight seem smaller each week. I know, it doesn't matter which day we do it because as long as it is always a week apart it shouldn't matter.

I have officially lost 9lbs from my heaviest weight or 7.5lbs from the true start of this insanity. I was hoping to not mention anything until I hit 10lbs but dang it, I needed to show some progress!

We go on vacation Thursday so it will be interesting to see how the weigh-in goes next week. Any guesses? Up, down, the same?

Blog update

I have been wanting to update my blog for a while but haven't really had the time. Today I was feeling a little spark so I updated the description. Then I was going to edit my profile and quickly realized I am not in the mood to write about myself today.

Yep, that's all I got in me today.

Rode my bike

That's right, I got up and rode my stupid bike this morning. I always feel bad for being so grumbly when Mr. Chipper Will Power starts trying to motivate me but come on...who gets up at 5am every day to exerise and enjoys it?

Common sense out the window

I have had a horrendous week (not sure of the spelling on that). So tonight I let loose at bowling and did pretty darn good. Then I get a wild hair up my butt that says, "I deserve some fun, let's keep partying." Well, thanks to the Jess and Jer-Bear we went back to their house. It's now almost midnight and the bike ride starts at 5am. Nice.

I have to go no matter how tired I am in the morning and I will feel good that I did it once I am done. That's all I have to say (Ryan just gave me the "we have to wake up in five hours, go to bed" speech).

Nighty night!

Very Long Day

Yesterday was a very long and tiresome day at work. We had another "issue" that put all hands on deck. I didn't get home until after 9pm. Yuck! Hopefully today goes much smoother.

The hubby greeted me at the door with a glass of wine and a Lean Cuisine. What a sweetheart! Then he forced me to play Wii. Well, he should know better. I kicked his butt in 3 games of bowling. That's right-if only my real bowling ball weighed less than 1 lb.

The hubby beat me to it.

Congrats to the Beeck and Squeak on their new little girl, Valerie. Papa said the labor wasn't too bad. I want to ask Squeaker how squeezing a big headed baby out her loins went. Men probably can't phathom the pain or work involved with birthing a child. I am waiting on pictures but I can tell you this much, an 8lb+ baby coming out of little Squeak...wow! I figured she would be around 6 or 7lbs. Congrats on a healthy little girl!

Good times

Good times at the Malecha/Higgins household tonight! They finished their remodeling and had an informal gathering to celebrate their 2 full years of improvements in their condo. I can only say "What a fantastic job!" Hat's off to them and their hard work.

Bowling, Biking, and Blogs

That's right, I bowled last night, I biked this morning, and I am blogging. Seriously though, a friend said I need to update my blog. I think I might tackle that this weekend. I just need to find a new meaning for MATL...Mighty Awesome Tough Lady...Must Attend To List journey....

Happy 4th of July!

We got up this morning and went biking. Today, I cut it short. My feet, legs, and arms were tingly and numb. I felt like poo. Normally they don't start to fall asleep until the last mile or two but today they set in before the 3 mile mark. According to the multiple websites I checked out, it is due to an improper fit on my bike. Hmmm...I think I need to start with a handle bar adjustment and maybe some new shoes. Yes, shoes...supposedly too soft of a sole shoe (tennis shoes) put too much pressure on parts of the foot causing numbness. I have always had this problem so I think I might need to do a little searching for new riding shoes. Maybe with those few adjustments; I can safely increase my mileage and not think I am going to die halfway through the ride.

Althought I only rode 8.5 miles today, I think I am going to take a shower and be a bum all day. Putting the 4th of July on a Wednesday is tough. I can't celebrate too hard, because there are still two more work days left ;) Not to mention we already celebrated last Saturday. It was a great party, food, friends, family, and fireworks!
