G&G Froyd Visit

Grandma and Grandpa Froyd paid us a visit during Miller's Spring Break and for Ryan's birthday. It was great timing because I was busy at work and Miller had the whole week off. We kept Mason in school so that meant extra one on one time for Miller.

Miller and Grandpa put quite a few miles on the bikes. Miller and Grandma read quite a few pages (130+ was the last count I heard) of Dick and Jane. There was cookie baking, slot car races, pool time, lunches out, and lots of play time. I don't know who had more fun or who wore out who the fastest.

Don't worry about Mason. He got plenty of time in too on the weekend and in the evenings. Bed time was a wash for the week.

We all played hookie on Friday and went for an airboat ride. Miller and Mason could have touched the gator in the Everglades if I let them. The driver had us super close. I had my arms around Mason's waist but Ryan and the guy in the front row begged to differ on how much control I had. They were both worried I was going to let Mason lean over and get eaten.

We all liked the ride. I wish it was about a half hour longer. The area with the gators, crocs, turtles and other animals is small but about the right size for the boys attention span. The highlight for Miller was seeing a Florida Panther poop in front of us. Mason liked petting the alligators.

Ryan had a nice birthday. He had the day off. We quickly opened presents before I went to work and Mason went to school. Unfortunately, that was the day Marshall got hit with pink eye and a sore throat. He ended up in a walk in clinic to get some meds. Boo.

Ryan and I skipped out on asking for a date night and took advantage of a Saturday free to go buy a car. It took all day but I don't think we could have done it with the kids in tow. Extra thanks to G&G for that day. Luckily, that was at the beginning of the trip so they got to take advantage of the new ride. :)

Mason's 2.5 year stats and other updates

I haven't blogged in ages. There has been a lot going on and the fact I live at work and that requires me to sign out and sign back in under a different account really hampers my desire to blog.

So, as the title suggests....Mason's 2.5 year old stats first.

Weight: 36.5 lbs
Height: 38.5 inches

Both are the 96% and off the charts. I went to look for Miller's stats but I was on a blog hiatus and can't find them. I am sure they are in a baby book and similar (I would guess slightly smaller based on pictures of them in the same clothes). Mason was awesome at the doctor. He listened to the nurse to go stand on the scale to get weighed and measured. Then he had his finger pricked and didn't even flinch. No shots this time so he was happy to let the doctor look at him. He giggled when he pressed on his belly and manly parts.

The other updates are going to be a few bullets.

  • Post Christmas, we have had a whirlwind of visitors and things going on. My parents have visited several times, Uncle Erik from California, the Beeck Family, and next up, Ryan's parents.
  • Miller had a little play at school for a parents/literacy night.
  • Reconnected with friends I was losing touch with due to work, kids, and other commitments on both sides.
  • We have gone to Thomas the Train (best part for the kids was the tailgating-aka eating lunch in the back of my car, go figure). I could have saved $80 on entrance fees and done it in the driveway!
  • We have heated the pool for some swimming (kids, not me!)
  • We have had play dates (neighbors and friends).
  • Miller got a new bike and after 1 day, is riding for a ways without training wheels.
I know we have done more and there were stories to go with some of these items but frankly, I am too beat to type. On top of all of this, we launched a new product at work that I have been working on. It missed the first two release dates and come hell or high water went out on the third date. That meant LOTS of hours in the office, late nights, and weekends. It has eased up a little but we are far from in the clear yet.

I recently saw a FB post about how once you have kids, you will be tired for years until they go off to college. The main point was to get over it. That's the way life is going to be. You will be tired all of the time. I have noticed that since I have been working so late, I have been staying up even later just to get an hour or two of down time in. Another ugh! I would like to shift that time back into running or another form of exercise. Time to "re-evaluate" things and get my butt out of my work chair. I think my pants are starting to melt into my chair.

I will try to blog a little more frequently because there are a lot of fun things going on with the kids. Mason is starting to outgrow his evil phase. I hope that potty training will fall into place soon. Miller is getting better at reading and rocks at math. It's fun to see them learning new things and applying them. So for now, you are up to date.
