Mason 21 Month Stats

Mason also had his 21 month (almost 22 months) checkup last week. He didn't have any shots but still had a fit when the doctor laid him down and pressed around. He had fun "roaring" to show how many teeth he had. The doctor was having fun with him and commented on his thick hair and ultra blue eyes. Guess they don't see much of that down here.

Height: 37 3/4 inches
Weight: 34 pounds

Both stats were off the chart. She said something about him being the size of an average 3 year old. Miller's stats for this same checkup had him 3/4 of an inch shorter and a couple pounds lighter. Mason might have finally surpassed his brother on stats (he has always been shorter) but I don't really trust wiggly kids and the paper measurement method.

Miller's 5 Year Old Checkup

Today was Miller's 5 year old checkup. We had been warned it was going to be a doozy and it was. Miller was all worked up about blood draws and shots before we even got there. Luckily, being the first appointment of the day means less waiting. We were in before our actual scheduled time.

Other than ridiculous crying fits prior to his blood being drawn (finger prick mind you, not a needle in the arm!) and the full blown screaming surrounding his 4 shots, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Miller's stats have him dropping back into the curve.

Height: 45 1/2 inches (91%)
Weight: 47 1/2 pounds (85%)

He's thinning out! I laughed when the doctor said these are the "square" years where the height and weight are normally similar and he also commented "You can go on most rides now."

Ah....other than a flu shot, he isn't scheduled for more until he's 11. I am pretty sure it will take that long for him to get over it. Being the sweet heart he is, he picked out a stick for Mason before one for himself. When we got to school, he had to walk over to his brother's room to give it to him.

Travel, Animals, Birthdays, and Father's Day

Last week's itinerary included a trip to Tulsa for me (work). I landed Friday afternoon, got home, tossed the suitcases in the truck, and we were off to pick up the kids from daycare and drive up to G&G Sladky's for the weekend. It was a belated birthday celebration for Miller and my Dad.

We had the best drive up. Very little traffic and we were able to stop for super and still make it up there in under 5 hours. Annie rode in the front seat and I sat in the back with the kids to referee, swap dvd's, and pick up dropped toys.

The kids are always wild when we arrive and get to stay up late. We always pay the price the next day...

We headed to Clearwater Marine Museum to see Winter from Dolphin tale. Cute facility with the dolphins, sea turtles, otters, sting rays, etc. After hanging out there for a bit (Mason was taken to the truck) we took the trolley over to the museum with props from the movie. It was well done. Mason rode over later and joined us. (Prior to Mason getting removed....he stood for 5+ minutes with his head pressed between the railing looking at the turtles.)

We took a quick trip down the road to a brewery that served fried cheese curds! Everyone ate well. Our next stop was at Cherry Berry for ice cream.

When we got back to my parents, we dropped the kids and left for a date night. Ryan and I met a guy from his guitar forum for dinner. After some chit chat, we went our separate ways. We went to "This is the end" movie. Funny but weird.

Sunday after our Father's Day breakfast, we headed to Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park. We had been there before but I don't think we had Miller with us. Either way, cool pontoon ride into the park but of course, Mason flipped out 10 minutes into a 20 minute ride. Ugh! Then we ran around and looked at animals for a couple hours.

Afterwards we took the tram back (quicker) and the kids enjoyed that. I think their highlights were trolley and tram rides. We had a quick lunch (this time Miller got taken out to the truck) and headed back to pick up Annie. Then we were off again for the long ride home. It wasn't as easy going (rain, traffic, crabby kids).

I had hoped to get a ton of pictures but like usual, that didn't happen. The few here were all I got.

Miller Turns 5

Grandma and Grandpa Froyd and Great Grandma Donna were here for Miller's birthday. Since his actual birthday fell on a Tuesday, he had a little festivity each day surrounding it. It started with a party on Saturday for Caleb (he turned 2) at Chuck E Cheese. Miller had a blast (literally, loved the shooter games at the restaurant). I failed to get many pics during their visit of everyone together.

Sunday we went to Benihana to celebrate with the Grandmas as a belated Mother's Day dinner and figured the kids would love the show. We told them it was Miller's birthday so he got ice cream and his picture taken. Mason...was a grump. He and Ryan left before dinner was even started.

Monday Miller stayed home from school to make lefsa (spelling) and  hang out with them. He got to open some presents early since he had so many.
Tuesday we had ice cream treats at school. His friends made him a happy birthday sign with teenage mutant ninja turtles on it. They had fun. Then when he got home, we opened more presents and had cake.

Saturday he went to a friend's birthday party at the Wow Factory. It was awesome. Here he is on a simulator ride. He was laughing and shaking. I can't wait to go back.

Today, we had his friend party at Sugar Sand Park. The kids had fun in the splash area, running around like wild animals, and riding the carousel. Here are a few picks.

Next weekend it's up to Grandma and Grandpa Sladky's to celebrate with them (and Father's Day).
