Head Cold

I have to count my blessings that this house has only been plagued by nasty colds recently. In my defense though, I have a mother of all head colds. I don't recall the last time I was this congested. I can relate to the ads where the head is in a vise and it feels like it's going to explode.

Today I wondered how much snot the human body produces with a cold? I may have to look that up. It seems like I have honked out gallons of clear liquid.

One last question for you who are still reading this; does anyone else get a little satisfaction when the green/yellow stuff comes out (coughing or blowing your nose)? I always feel that's a good sign I am on the road to recovery.

Valentines Day Froyd Style

I think most people agree when I say Valentines Day is a bunch of unnecessary hub-bub. Ryan and I have always agreed that I like flowers on any other day of the year because it means more. He also knows I am not a red rose lover, a heart shaped anything jewelry person, and not a big chocolate eater. He scored big time with me, didn't he?

Our style is more like us- he bought me a bottle of jalapeno vodka earlier this week. He made us lobster tail dinner on Sunday for all of us to enjoy together. I continue to let him play an hour of guitar every evening. Yep, that's how we roll.

We do get each other cards each year. Sometime they are sappy but most of the time they are humorous.

As for the kids, I think it's more fun. Miller and Mason made cards for Ryan and their teachers. Sorry Grandparents, you got store bought this year. Miller signed all of his cards and was excited to deliver them to his friends at school. Of course I am the lame parent that sent cutie oranges with Mason's and pencils with Miller's. The kids get so much candy it's ridiculous.

I did get each kid a gift, made them each a card, and put a cute balloon at their seat yesterday for breakfast. Seeing how excited they were was awesome and melted my heart. Of course I didn't take a picture but trust me, two cute boys in their pjs with wild hair and a smile on their face...precious.

I don't need February 14th to remind me I have the best husband and sweetest boys on earth.

New Kicks

Mason and I each got a new pair of tennis shoes this weekend. It's amazing how quickly his little feet grow (and how he can destroy a pair of shoes in no time at all). I am sure they felt good on his fat little Barney Rubble feet.

I bit the bullet and went to a running store to get new tennis shoes. The staff was very helpful and nice. I was excited to try them out this morning. I wasn't feeling too good so I only went 1.25 miles but they felt nice. I think I tied them a little too tight but no rubbing or anything out of place. I could really feel the "cushion" of them. Hopefully my knees and ankles like them and I can start running more frequently and further again.

Poor Mason threw up on himself last night and slept in puke. The kid never made a peep and we discovered it this morning. He tossed his cookies one more time before he ate. He took a quick bath this morning to get the chunks out of his hair. Something didn't agree with him. He didn't have a fever so we sent him to school. He was fine-ate his normal food and kept it all down.

On a happier note, we took the kids to Rainforest Cafe on Saturday night. Mason enjoyed looking at all of the animals but was scared of the elephants when they did the "show" part. It was too noisy and scared the heck out of him. Miller had fun too. He had been there as a little kid but didn't remember it. It was a late night for us, I don't think we even left until 6:45pm which is past Mason's bedtime. He had fun and stayed up the entire ride home.

We had some good parking karma. A car had pulled out and I thought I was going to get the spot but some other sneaky car was waiting in the wings. As we came back around, the front row car left. I nabbed it! For anyone who has tried to park at Sawgrass, they know the likelihood of parking within a quarter mile is considered good luck. This was awesome!

Fantastik* Friday

That's right folks, it's Fantastik Friday. Sorry 409, I moved on to using Fantastik a couple years ago. It cleans my counter tops without leaving a haze.

On Wednesday, I ran and it felt good. Thursday, I could feel the tightness coming back that proceeds the ache in my ankle. Knowing my goal this weekend is to get some new shoes, I skipped my run. Instead, I decided to get some cleaning done before I started my work day. I worked up a sweat but not quite the same as running.

I cleaned the cupboard doors, the counter tops, the microwave, the stainless appliances, etc. I started laundry, watered plants, and cleaned one bathroom. Not too shabby. It goes much quicker when I don't have little rug rats to trip over or interrupt my flow. I would have liked to have done more at lunch but I am busy today.

Hopefully I am posting a pic of my new kicks later this weekend. I also hope they resolve my anke/leg/knee ache.
