Saturday and Sunday

Miller and I survived each other's company on Saturday. He was very needy and not a happy camper because he is teething and had a low grade fever (and the snots). He felt better in the afternoon so we went out side and fished, swang, played ball, etc. Ryan came home last night in time to feed him dinner and get in a quick bath.

Today while he took a short nap I ran to Target and bought him a ton of things. My days of shopping for myself are long gone. He made a haul, 2 pairs of pjs, new bibs, forks/spoons, new plate, glass, and matching fork/spoon, socks, and board books. I can't help it. I wanted to buy a ton more but told myself it could wait. I think it's easier to buy for him than myself because there is no trying on and I can make cute outfits.

We went for lunch at Buffalo's and watched a little bit of the game. Now we are home and it's snack time. Hopefully the rest of the afternoon goes well. Ryan kept him entertained this morning while I cleaned the floors.

Time to go be mommy again.

Update

Here are a few updates from this past week.

Work-still hellish

Single Parenting-Ryan's been in Miami since Wednesday. I made the fatal mistake of staying up way too late Wednesday night. Then to make matters worse, Miller woke up at 4:30am! He did not go back to sleep. Last night was good. Tonight he was tired and feeling kinda warm. He went down for a little bit but woke up in a crying after 20 minutes. He has a fever so I gave him some Tylenol and we snuggled on the couch for a bit. The last 20 minutes have been plagued with sudden cries (he dropped Blue, his music shut off, he is mad, he is overly tired, he feels like poo). I hope the Tylenol kicks in and he sleeps through the night. I am exhausted after a long week at work and need the sleep. Plus tomorrow is going to be extra long without Ryan's help.

Exercise-missed Thursday and Friday. Not a good sign.

Animal Support-I killed a parrot last night. A flock took off in one direction and another bird came at them so they flew into my car. 3 hit the windshield and only 2 survived. I was mortified. The poor thing stuck between my windshield and the hood of my car. It wasn't dead when I got home. I checked back a couple hours later after it stiffened up and removed it. Poor thing.

Beach Day

We took Miller to the beach this morning. He hasn't been there since last November so we decided the sun was coming up, treats were packed, let's go. It was a beautiful morning. He did really well with the water; even after he was knocked backwards. We also took him out in the water and he floated on his back and tried to "kick, kick, kick." I think he had a good time. He didn't like the sand on his hands. Nothing a treat and a swing ride couldn't cure. Here are a couple pictures (which Ryan discovered I had the camera set wrong so they may be slightly blurry).

You Know You Are Old When...

It's Friday night, you have a happy hour party to go to for two friends' birthday and as much as you want to drink and socialize, you decide you would much rather take your kid home and go to bed yourself. AND that the realization of that decision was made prior to 7:30pm after you had a nice cold Miller Lite that tasted like heaven after a shit-tastic week at work.

I think I am listening to my body and not my mind tonight. I am too tired to pick up the house. Too tired to do any more work. I officially skipped my first day of exercise and don't really feel guilty about it all. I think I know I am tired and that any exercise I did tonight would be half-assed and not worth it. I am going to veg in front of the tv so I can recharge for tomorrow and the rest of the weekend.

Miller Time

Tonight I left a little bit early knowing it was going to be a late night with projects for work. Miller and I played with a few puzzles and then went cat hunting. To those that do not Miller and Jazzy's relationship, this means Jazzy ran in front of Miller and then hid under the bed. He finds it amazing to say cat a million times and go around the bed peering underneath. He will even give you a flashlight to shine it on her.

After that game became boring we switched to playing on the bed with Annie. They boy were having fun but Annie has toe nails that hurt when she accidentally makes contact with you. Miller would bury his face in the covers and then Annie would bark and sniff his neck. Then he would kick at her and she would back up. Repeat a few more times for fun.

One new word association was made this morning. He came in the bathroom; pointed at his toothbrush and said "teeth." He knew he wanted to brush his teeth. So I gave him his toothbrush and he did his brushing (aka chewing on the toothbrush). It was really cute and suprised the heck out of me. Of course I think he's the smartest kid in the world but I am sure this isn't an earth shattering milestone. I will just continue to believe it in my mind. :)

Is it Friday yet?

I am averaging over 60 hours a week for work. Not good. Tired, stressed, and overwhelmed. I have a really large presentation Friday. I haven't started it yet. I am panicking but it's time for bed. Tomorrow will be the all nighter. Wish me luck.

Bed Time

Last night, I decided to stay up and watch Jay Leno's new show (if you didn't see it, you didn't miss much). That meant I was up until 11pm which is past my normal preferred bedtime of 10pm. I no sooner put my head on my pillow and then the crying started. I tried to ignore it thinking "Miller will go back to sleep."

15 minutes later Ryan and I were up. The poor kid must have been having a nightmare again. We traded on and off for over an hour and finally he went back to sleep around 12:30. I didn't sleep well thinking "I have to be up in 4.5 hours to exercise." At 5am, I rolled over and looked at Ryan and told him I wasn't getting up. He gave me permission to not get up and exercise. Then I tossed and turned until it was time to get up 45 minutes later.

After I got up, I thought I should have just gotten up at 5 anyways. Oh well. I got home a little early tonight (6:30ish rather than 7ish). I ate dinner with the boys and then picked up the kitchen. We put Miller down and then I bit the bullet and exercised to keep up my stellar attendance record with the Wii Active. Tonight was a teaser. It was super easy as the half way point. I finished and thought I may as well go for a walk since I was already dressed and sorta sweaty. Annie and I cruised around the lake.

This brings me to my final point. If you leave your front door open and have little shit head dogs; don't act all crazy and mad at me that your dogs come tearing out barking at me and my dog who is leashed. Tonight Annie didn't even pause when two little weiner dogs came racing out to us with their teeth showing and lots of snarling. Since I new Annie wasn't in danger, I gave her a little more freedom to snap back at them. The owner was yelling at the dogs and then muttering about her little babies. Why do people with little dogs seem to think this behavior is ok?

Shut your door, leash your dogs, or get a fence. My dog may bark through the window when you walk by but she certainly isn't allowed the chance to dart out after you and bite you. Time to go back to work. Breaks over.

Another 1 Year Old Birthday Party

Sunday we went to the neighbor's for Aishalin's first birthday. We were there for 2 hours and Miller played the whole time. Aisha chased/followed Miller round and round and round the house. She would toss a ball and he would bring it back to share. It was so cute. They got along really well and I foresee some playdates in the future.

Another cute note was Miller woke up saying baby on Sunday. He looked all over the house for Norah and pointed at the bouncer and pack n play. We worked on saying Rylee (which he said) but I don't think there is any association there yet. Maybe that will be next weekend's learning adventure.

Monday was brutal at work. I had 18 meeting invites on my calendar. I deleted half and still had trouble making those. Another BRD and FRD to review before bed. At least they are short.

Oh, and I was up at 5am again to excercise. I haven't missed a day yet but I think I am in the "I am so bored and would rather sleep in" stage. I have to make the 30 day challenge before I start another program/routine.

Size 6

I just bought Miller a new pair of tennis shoes...size 6! They looked so large in the store but they aren't much bigger than his current ones. Now I know how my parents felt buying shoes and new ice skates for me every so many months. Shoes for kids should be a fraction of the cost they charge since they grow out of them so fast.

On another note, I am picking up the house as we will be babysitting Norah this evening. I know, she won't be crawling on the floor and eating dog hair. She also won't care if there is a little dust layer on all the tables but it's a good excuse to pick up this place.

The agenda for tonight-two bathtimes, probably two dinners, and I am guessing a few diapers. This will probably solidify my reason to wait a while longer on #2. I will be wishing I had 4 arms.

15 Month Stats

Miller had his 15 month checkup today. Stats:

Height: 34 5/8 inches (off the charts)
Weight: 28 lbs (90th percentile)

He is ahead on words, doing great with motor skills, and was showing off for the doctor. Shots...he did ok but we took his flavored tongue depressors away to get him dressed and you would have thought we were stabbing him with hot pins. I had the pleasure of a 25 minute drive home with him screaming like a banchee. 25 minutes=raining to the point you couldn't see 5 inches in front of your nose. Argh!

Oh and Grandmas Jean and Joann; he had his first flu shot. It's not for the swine flu. Since it was his first, I get to do it all over again next month while Ryan is duck hunting for the second round. Lucky me.

Too Early For Another Major Change?

No, I am not pregnant. No, I am not quitting drinking.

Since I have been able to stick with the exercise thing for almost 2 straight weeks would it be too early to add another major change to my life? I need to quit working so much. It's making me sick to my stomach again. Two weeks from now might be the best time to test it all out since Ryan will be gone for 4 days (3 are work days/nights). That means I have to continue exercising but I also have to leave work no later than 4:45pm rather than 6:45pm to pick up Miller.

Thoughts?

Labor Day 3pm Update

After a busy Saturday/Sunday...Monday continued to be more of the same. Miller and I got up early, had breakfast, played for an hour and then woke up Ryan. Then it was off to the park, second breakfast at Denny's, a trip to Sam's Club, home to pick up the house, lunch, Monkey Joe's (more on that below), a trip to get gas, then Motorola, and the fish store. After that it was Petsmart and Party City. Whew! An afternoon snack has been had and a tired kid is about to take a nap. I am about to clean out my inbox for work.

Monkey Joe's was interesting today. First, Miller was a little more brave and played in both of the 3 and under bounce houses. I helped him get up on the slide in the one and after a face plant, he stood up and said "More?". So...several slides later, numerous laps around the building, and many redirects (he wanted to tackle some older kids and chase them!) we decided to try the BIG slide. I walked him up, sent him down, and then followed. I pretty much slammed into him and gave him a black eye or rubber burn. Didn't notice it and he didn't cry so we moved back one more time to the little kids house. I tried to toss him on the aligator and he took it face first. Oopsie!

He looks a little bruised and battered but we sure had fun. Ryan actually made me feel more guilty and pointed out the red cheek-soon-to-be-a-bruise at home. He didn't cry so it must not have hurt that bad. He left with a smile on his face.

Party Squared

Yesterday we went from swimming lessons to a Labor Day party at a friends house. Miller discovered dog poo 3 times in a yard that had already been poop patrolled (one he picked up, one he almost fell in, and one he stepped barefoot in). So, I guess if you think you cleared your yard of dog bombs, send in Miller. He will find any sleeping mines.

We tossed him in the pool but it was a little chilly. I think swimming after swim lessons isn't the best idea. He seemed a little apprehensive. He did show off his skills when he went for a ball and forgot the step he was on wasn't wider.

Today, he was up early and I wasn't feeling 100%. I am still fighting a sinus or ear thing. Ryan took him for a walk and then to the park. Then after breakfast number 2, he took a nice nap. I was able to watch a DVR'd tv show and exercise before he woke up. I am still on track so far.

Then we were off to Rylee's for her first birthday. Miller was a good kid. He had about an hour of pool time. Overall he did ok. He's not content to float but not happy (or ready) to be on his own. He likes the water though and went from big pool to kiddy pool to play some more. He slept through Rylee's gift opening (which was nice so he wasn't tempted to get in there an help open presents). He missed singing happy birthday and cake but had a cupcake waiting for him once he finally woke up.

It was a long day for everyone and I am glad we still have tomorrow off. We need to do a little house cleaning, errand running, and then I have to get some work done.

Two parties in one weekend-I am pooped!

Day 2 Completed

I stayed up too late last night but still got up and exercised at 5am. Ryan can take his bet and shove it. With that said, it's time for me to go to bed. I am too tired to surf the net tonight.

Day 1 of Many

I layed out my clothes last night, set up the workout stuff, and went to bed. At 5am, I rolled out, got dressed, and realized all the Wii remotes were dead. I kept the will power going and found 2 batteries to get one remote working. The balance board can wait. I did it. I successfully worked out in the morning before work.

Now, check out this from an email chain I received yesterday. Makes me kinda rethink this exercise thing.

"We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids, a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver and a coffee with my friends. With time we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room it distributes out to the rest of our bodies. So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy. Beginning today, when I lookat my butt in the mirror I will think, 'Good gosh, look how smart I am!' "

My Little Big Boy

Last week's theme at day care was back to school. Miller needed to bring something for show and tell that had to do with back to school. He had received this backpack as part of his Dr. Seuss (spelling?) book club membership. It was adorable but sad at the same time. My little baby is growing up so fast!
